Topaz and Christmas

Today was just like any other day for Topaz the 3 year old cat.  Everyone was busy putting up the Decoration and soon the Tree would be put up and then it would be time for Topaz to have her fun.  As soon as the Tree went up Topaz always loved the play with the decorations that were dangling on the tree.  This year they had made sure that there were none at the bottom of the tree but Topaz new she could still reach soon everyone left the room.  Quietly Topaz looked around and sneaked up to the tree.  She sat there looking at all the shiny colours on the tree and all the tinsel shining brightly and teasing her.  Up onto her back paws she went and she started the play with the red tinsel that was hanging nice and long.  Topaz was too busy having fun to even notice that the tree was starting to wobble.  Crash, down came the tree.  Topaz ran and hid behind the arm chair and pretended that she was fast asleep when everyone came rushing in.

Topaz someone shouted.  But then Topaz heard someone saying that they cannot have put the tree up correctly as Topaz was no where near the tree plus they were sure that the decorations had been put on high enough that she could not reach them.  It did not take them all long to put the tree back up.  This time they made sure that Topaz had left the room before they left it again.  Outside Topaz went and played in the snow.  The snow was cold under her paws and everyone laughed at how Topaz would try to walk without touching the snow.  Well it was cold and wet under her paws and cats don't like water.

When Topaz went back inside she could see that some presents were under the tree and all the children were getting excited.  It turns out it was Christmas Eve and Santa would be coming tonight.  All the children went to bed early and Cookies and Milk had been left out for Santa, plus some Carrot's. When everyone went to bed Topaz was left fast asleep under the radiator that was near the tree.  All was quiet when suddenly Topaz was woken up.  She could hear something so she got up to take a look. Suddenly she stopped.  Near the tree was a Largish Old Man who was all dressed in Red.  He was busy putting presents under the tree.  He turned to Topaz and went ho ho ho, Merry Christmas Topaz.  Santa this must be thought Topaz.  Santa put down his large red bag and stroked Topaz.  Topaz could smell something nice so she climbed into Topaz bag.  Inside was nice and warm and Topaz fell asleep.  She did not notice that the bad was being picked up .

A short while later Topaz woke up and climbed out of the bad.  Imagine the shock on her little face when she realised that she was not longer at home and that she was actually flying through the clouds in Santa's slay.  Santa was as shocked as well when he saw Topaz.  Santa carefully picked Topaz up and put her on the front seat next to him.  You will be able to see better up here and at least I will know where you are.  Once I have delivered all my presents I will take you back home.  Until then enjoy the view he said.  Topaz looked at all the reindeer's, she had never seen Reindeer's before and they looked quite big and friendly.

The reindeer's pulled up at each house and Santa disappeared with his bag of toys.  They went from house to house.  Topaz noticed how the bag never seemed to get any smaller.  But more and more toys were appearing and being taken from each child in each house.  Santa allowed Topaz to join him in a couple of houses and she enjoyed all the different smells and how different each house looked with all the decorations up and the trees.  One house they went too didn't have a tree.  They only had a little plant with a bit of tinsel on.  Out of Santa's bag came a complete Christmas tree with decorations and lights.  Topaz imagined the faces of the children would look in the morning.

Soon they were back in the slay and off they went.  Topaz loved it when they flew through the clouds.  They seemed to be out for ages when Topaz saw her house below.  It looked so beautiful with the lights and snow.  Santa carefully took Topaz back home and he said goodnight, but Topaz was already fast asleep and she did not even notice that Santa had left.

In the morning everyone ran downstairs.  The children's were screaming and shouting, and the adults all had to hurry up.  Paper was flying around everywhere and everyone was looking at there presents with delight.  Someone noticed that there was no sign of Topaz especially as there was a present for her under the tree.  Gradually they found Topaz who was fast asleep behind the armchair and they all laughed as she had a ribbon bow stuck on her collar.  They put her under the tree as the immediately started to sniff the parcel that was for her.  Suddenly the parcel started to move.  Everyone jumped back.  Quick open it everyone was saying.  Quickly they opened it and out came a little kitten.  The label on the box just said A Friend For Topaz (Hopefully To Keep Her Out Of Mischief).
