Charlottes Life and Adventures

Charlotte's Life and Adventures
Started November 2010
Re-Written September 2011

Charlotte's Life and Adventures.

Charlotte was always different to everyone else that she knew, but she had never told anyone.  You see, her mother was killed when she was only 10 years old and no one could find her father. They had looked but were unable to find him.   So Charlotte had to go from home to home.  She was put in a Children’s Home and then Foster Care and she would be with a foster family for a short time and then she would be moved to another family.  Charlotte hated this but there was nothing she could do as she was only young.  She was too young to complain about anything.   This went on for a couple of years and then Charlotte finally  got a foster family that would be looking after her until she was 16 years old and then it was up to her what she did.  She would be free and independent.
Charlotte had finally got a Foster Family.  Great she thought, but how wrong she would be.  Anyway how about learning more about Charlotte first years of life.  Charlotte went everywhere with her mother.  They loved to go shopping together and other places and they would always have fun.  There was only Charlotte and her mother, Clare, but that was ok.  Charlotte never knew who her father was.  She would ask her mother sometimes but she was always told that she would better to not know until she was old enough.
Charlotte Wood and her mother Clair lived in a Cottage outside of town.  It was a short walk into town and Charlotte loved walking there with her mother.  Everyone in the town was nice and they would all always say hello and sometimes they would stop and talk.  There cottage was like most cottages, sweet, cosy and Plenty of room.
The garden always had roses and flowers growing.  There was always a nice smell.  The Roses are what Charlotte put it with her mums help.  They planted flowers and roses all over the garden.  They even planted some trees and bushes.  It always looked nice.  Very nice indeed and the smell was always nice.
Each year Charlotte and her mother would comment on how nice the garden was looking and how everything was growing well.  The Cottage had two bedrooms in the attic and a medium sized kitchen.  The lounge was small and cosy and there was a real fire.    Both Charlotte and her mother would toast crumpets on a nice and have them dripping with butter.  All was well.  But Charlotte and her mother had a secret that no-one new about.
You see Charlotte from a very young age had been able to move stuff and do thinks without touching them.   Plus Charlotte had the ability to know things before they happened and sometimes she could read people’s minds as well.  Which Charlotte did not like doing? Though sometimes she would only do this if she had to and sometimes she did it without even knowing that she was.
Charlotte went to the local school which was in the local town, Woodened Town.  Charlotte would walk their everyday and they when she came home her mum would be there waiting for her.  Then her other lessons would start.  You see, Charlotte was a witch and she had to learn spells and other things her mother had lots of books that she would learn from.
There were small books and large books, thin books and fat books.  Charlotte was learning about being a witch, and spells and everything else they would need to learn about.  Even flying was in there.  But Charlotte was always told that she should never use her abilities around other people, especially non-magic people.  They would not understand or care.  And it’s not easy telling who is a witch or Wizard.
For this reason Charlotte was never allowed to use magic outside.  Everything was going well then Charlotte was ten.  One day she was going to school and she had a bad feeling that something would be going wrong.  She tried to tell her mother, but her mother said everything will be fine and go to school.
“Don’t Worry and I will see you after school” her mother said.
Charlotte took the slow walk to school thinking about and worrying about her mother.  The day soon passed and it was time for home.  Charlotte ran all the way home and she had a strong feeling that something was wrong.  As Charlotte got near to her Cottage she could see a couple of strange cars outside her cottage.
Slowly Charlotte opened the door and went in.  There neighbour was sat down crying in the living room.
“What’s wrong” asked Charlotte.
One  of the men stood up.
“I am sorry to tell you this but your mother was killed today and the way to work.  I car came out of nowhere and it hit her.  I am sorry but she died and no one could do anything, we have been looking for your father but we cannot find it, so I am sorry but we will be putting you with a family until everything is sorted out” the man said.
So Charlotte's  She was taken to a family and they put her in a room in their house and Charlotte just sat on the bed thinking about her mother.  She knew there was something wrong.  Why had she not done anything, she could have stopped her going to work.
Charlotte stayed with this family for about 6 months and then she was moved with another family and then every six months it was another family.  No one had been able to find her family.  Charlotte had been allowed to go back home and collect some more stuff.  Charlotte was in her mother’s room looking at all the pictures.  Charlotte found herself looking at the wardrobe.  So over she went.
She felt around the wardrobe, not knowing why and stuff under the wardrobe was something.  Slowly Charlotte pulled it out, it was an envelope.  Slowly Charlotte opened the enveloped and read the letter that was inside.
“This is for you Charlotte.  I have been putting money into an account for you ready for when you are older.  I did tell your father about the account but I don’t know if he has ever put anything in.  The Password for your account is?  Once you are 16 you will be able to access this account.  Spend it wisely.  If you are wondering why I have put it here, I was listening to what you said and decided to put it here just in case.  I love you with all my heart and I always will.  Remember me in your heart and I will always be there.”
Charlotte quickly put the card in her pocket and told no-one.  When Charlotte was back with the family she looked at the card but always kept it a secret.  Charlotte moved from family to family and was waiting for the day when she would be able to access her bank account.  Charlotte was still learning spells but it was not easy.  You see Charlotte had collected the books the last time she was at her house.  They were easy to hide.
Charlotte looked at these whenever she could.  Trying to learn everything  and hoping that she was learning the spells right.  For years Charlotte went from family to family and then when she was 14 a foster family was available for her.  Charlotte moved in with the Knowles.  There was Rosie Knowles, David Knowles and there 2 kids, Peter (15) and May (13).
Charlotte had her own room in the attic.  There was a bed, one set of draws and one wardrobe and that was it.  Not much furniture.  Charlotte was careful and used the magic she knew to hide all her magic books.  Charlotte did not like the Rules but she had to follow them.  She had to be in when she was told and out when she was told.  She was only allowed to drink water and nothing else.  Meal times were set and she was never given much.
Luckily the neighbour would give Charlotte something to eat when she was out.  This went on for years.  It was an awful family but it was all she had.  She still had the card and her books and her secrets.  Secrets that she told no one.
Charlotte's 16Th birthday was like any other day.  But Charlotte felt different.  Before she left in the morning she packed all her things into a bag and hid them outside in the garden.  She did not know why she had done this, but she had.  Charlotte was told to leave at 8.15am and told that if she was not back at 12.10pm she would not get any food.
Charlotte went out and was back just before 12pm.  She went into the kitchen and everyone was eating.
“Anything for me” asked Charlotte.
“Yes, you can have what’s left” said Rosie.
“Oh it’s OK you can keep it and choke on it, I don’t need you and you never ever wanted me, you only even wanted the money and you will never get my money” she replied and she left.
“Hey what money, any money is ours where your family, we have looked after you, it’s ours, you hear it’s ours” Rosie shouted after her.
But Charlotte had already grabbed her bag and was walking towards town.  Charlotte would never be going back there.  In fact she was glad to be away from there.  Charlotte was busy thinking about what would happen next when a Horse and Cart pulled up at the side of her.
“Do you need a lift into town Charlotte” the man (Richard) asked?
“Thanks” said Charlotte and she climbed on board.
Both Charlotte and Richard were talking as they rode into town.  It was a nice ride and Charlotte thanked Richard when they arrived.  Charlotte did not know what she would be doing next and she just started to walk around.
In front of Charlotte was her bank but before she could go there a shop keeper stopped her and he started to talk to her.
“Hi Charlotte I need some help stacking my shelves, if you help me I will help you” he said.
Charlotte thought about this and then said “thanks, I will help you”.
It did not take Charlotte long to fill the shelves and when she was done the shop owner Mr Andre said “that he knew a place where she would be able to stay until she was sorted out, plus she would need an address to be able to access her bank account”
“How do you know about my bank account” she asked.
“I helped your mother to set it up, now would you like somewhere to stay”.
“Yes please I am not going back to that horrible family”.
“Right he said, follow me” and he took Charlotte out the back of the shop where there was some stairs that led to above the shop.
Above the shop was a self contained one bedroom flat.  It was fully furnished and looked nice and warm.
“Will this be off any use to you?  Your mother had paid me rent for this flat for you so that you would have somewhere to stay when you were old enough”.
“My mother paid rent, but how did she know”
“Your mother went on what you said and she came here and asked me to hold this flat when you were 16.  You see your mother was a witch just like you and I have always known her secret as I grew up with her and I know your secret, but I won’t tell anyone.  It’s our little secret” ok he said.
“Thanks a lot” Charlotte said.
Mr Andre gave Charlotte the keys and then left her to settle in.  A place of her own, Charlotte could not believe it.  Charlotte had a good look around and when she got into the bedroom she saw that some photos had been put next to her bed.  Photos of her and her mother.  Once Charlotte had got settled she went downstairs to see Mr Andre.
“Hello Charlotte, you see that Shed outback, well a lot of your mothers stuff is in there, I collected what I could after her death and saved what I thought you would like, here are the keys, look when you are ready, and only when you are ready” he said.
Charlotte did not know what to do and say.  She just thought about her mother and everything that had happened and how her life was changing for the better.
“Come on then” Mr Andre said.  “Let’s get you to your bank”.
Mr Andre’s son took over the shop whilst he took Charlotte to the local bank.  Once there they went inside.  Charlotte remembered this bank as she had come before with her mother.  They went over to one of the counters and Charlotte gave them her card.  Mr Andre vouched for her address and they told her that she would be able to use her account and they gave her a statement.
Charlotte looked and her statement and she could not believe it.  There was a lot more money in there that she thought would be in there.  It turns out that Charlotte father had been putting money in each week for her.  That’s why there was more money than there would have been.
Charlotte got enough money out so that she could go shopping and Mr Andre helped her so that she would know what she needed.  Things like toilet rolls, towels and kitchen paper, then the food she liked.  Charlotte had never tasted tea so when Mr Andre made her one she was unsure about trying it, but it was lovely.
Charlotte loved her place and it did not take her long to get it looking how she wanted to get it looking how she wanted.  Finally a home of her own.  Studying her spell books was easier as she was able to look at them whenever she had the time.  Charlotte also helped Mr Andre in his store whenever she was needed.  Both Charlotte and Mr Andre were trying to find out where Charlotte’s dad was, especially as he had been putting funds into Charlotte's bank account and he still was.  Mr Andre had left a letter at the bank for Charlotte’s dad, but he did not know if Charlotte would ever hear anything.  But he wanted to try.
Slowly Charlotte got to knew everyone in the town and everyone was friendly.  Everyone knew her mother and they would tell her stories about when her mother was a little girl.  Apparently she had even stayed in the same flat as Charlotte was staying in now.  Wow thought Charlotte, this made Charlotte feel closer to her mother especially had they had shared the same rooms.
Six months had passed and Charlotte still did not know who her father was.  She decided that she would never know and gave up thinking about who he was and what he would be like.  But this was all to change.  Charlotte had never been into the shed at the back and when she had gone with Mr Andre they found that the shed had been emptied.  There was nothing there and both Mr Andre and Charlotte had no idea as to where it went.
For some reason Charlotte had started to keep her spell books hidden in her back pack.  She had a feeling that someday she would have to get them quickly and leave, but she would never leave them behind.  Today was a cold windy day.  It was raining heavy and the winds were getting up.  Items were blowing about all around the town.  Charlotte went out and she helped anybody that needed any help.  Shutters were put up and anything loose was fastened down.
By 8pm Charlotte was finished and soaking wet and cold so she went back to her flat.  She had just got in when there was a knock on the door.
It was Mr Andre, “get out get out, the lighting has started a fire down stairs”
Charlotte grabbed her stuff and ran outside with Mr Andre.  Turning around Charlotte could see that the shop was well ablaze.  Firemen were busy trying to put out the fire but it was not easy with the wind.
“What now “asked Charlotte?
“I don’t know” Mr Andre Replied looking sad.
Charlotte was busy looking at the shop burning to notice a black car pull up behind her.
“Are you Charlotte” a man asked.
Charlotte turned around and answered “yes, why”.
“Please get in and ask no questions, all will be explained later” he said.
Charlotte got into the car and off they went.  Soon it was dark and Charlotte could not see much.  Dark trees were everywhere, and she did not see many houses.  They were travelling for what felt a long time before they entered some big gates and the car went up a drive and stopped.
“We are here” the driver said.
“Please follow me” a lady said.
Charlotte just followed and quietly went into the house.  Once inside Charlotte could see that it was a large house, a mansion.  They were in a giant hallway which had a pair of stairs running up the middle and on either side were doors and passages.
“Ah there you are Charlotte” a man said.  “Sorry it’s been a long time, please come in and follow me.  You much be hungry”.
Charlotte followed him and he led her into a lounge.  There was a fire burning and on the fire place Charlotte could see pictures of her mother and of herself.  Charlotte looked closely at them.
“I am sorry that I did not come to see you before and I am sure that you know that I am your father”.  “When you were born both your mother and me decided that it would be safer for you if we split up and you never knew I was your father”.
“But why” asked Charlotte.
“You know that there are Witches and Wizards and non-magic people all around us” he said.  “When you was born your mother felt that you was different to all the other witches around us and she felt that you would be in danger if we stayed together”, he said.
All night her father, Peter Thomas, explained everything to her about her mother and how they had fallen in love and how they even met.  He explained how he never enjoyed having to stay away from his daughter, but her mother would send him pictures and she sent him a letter with the information in about a bank account for you.  He had even received a letter after her mother’s death.
Later on that night Peter showed Charlotte to her room but before getting to her room he showed her another room.  Inside was everything that her mother owned.  He had kept it for her.  Charlotte room had a four poster bed in it with red drapes.  The curtains also had red drapes which looked quite nice and expensive.  In fact her whole room look great, and she loved in.  Charlotte slept well that night; in fact she slept better than she had in a long time.
The next morning Charlotte was awoken by the Sun shining in her window.  Her Curtains had been opened and the sun was shining brightly on her bed covers.
“Good morning I am Louise and I am the house keeper here”.
“Pleased to meet you” replied Charlotte.
“Your breakfast is ready when you are and your fathers waiting for you in the dining room “she added.
Charlotte quickly got up and went to her wardrobe.  She looked inside and quickly stood back.  Inside were more clothes than she had put in there.  What should I wear she thought and then out of her wardrobe, some jeans and a t-shirt and they were floating towards her.
It did not take Charlotte long to get ready and she quickly made her way down stairs into the dining room.  Peter was already sat waiting for her and he helped her into a seat.
“Good morning and I hope you slept well “he said.
“Oh I slept very well, thanks” said Charlotte.
Charlotte spent that day looking around the mansion and sees all the photos of her mother and then she was looking at all her mother’s stuff in the room.  There were lots to look at.  There were pictures and photos and letter and books and lots of other stuff.  Charlotte enjoyed looking at everything there was.  Charlotte’s dad came to her later and they both had a look at what there was.
“Your mother was so proud of you and so am I” he said.
“Come on you two, dinner ready and it won’t stay hot for long” Louise said to them both.
Both Charlotte and Peter sat down at the long table in the dining room.  For Lunch it was Fish and Chips with Mushy Peas and Home Baked Bread.  Everything was nice and tasty.
“After lunch how about I take you into the local town” Peter Suggested.
“Great when can we go” asked Charlotte.
“Come on” Laughed Peter.
Both Charlotte and Peter got into his car and off he went.  They went down a long narrow lane that had tall trees on both sides.  At the end of the road they turned right into another lane and then left into another lane.  Soon they reached the out skirts of the town they were heading for.
“This is our Secret Town”. Peter told Charlotte.
“Secret Town” said Charlotte.
“Yes that’s what we call it and it has always been called that.  Only magical people know it’s here and it’s always been like this” he told her.
They stopped in one of the streets and they both started to have a look around.  There were lots of shops.  Books Store, Food Stores, Clothes Shops, Shoe Shops, everything you could think of was there.  Peter took Charlotte to the new book store so that she could get some more books.  Charlotte came away with 5 more Spells Books.  Advanced Magic and Spells.  Great she thought.
Soon it was time for them to go home.  On the way back to Peters Mansion they were both talking about the town they had just visited.
“I will be helping you with your spells and both I and Louise would like to see where you are up to, plus some friends will be joining you and I hope you will all get on” Peter said.
“Oh that will be great” said Charlotte.
It did not take them long to arrive home and Louise was waiting for them.
“You have some guests waiting to meet you in the drawing room” said Louise.
“Thanks” said Charlotte and Peter and they both went inside.
Peter took Charlotte's books into the Drawing Room and Charlotte Followed.  Stood inside were two people.  A boy and a girl.  The boy looked very tall and skinny and he had Black hair and was well dressed.  The girl was also tall and slim and she had black and blonde hair.
“I am Roger” he told Charlotte.
“I am Joanna” said the girl.
“Pleased to meet you both” said Charlotte.
“I will leave you all to get to know each other better and oh by the way Charlotte, both Roger and Joanna will be staying her a while, so you will have plenty of time to get to know each other” Peter said as he left the room.
Everyone was talking at once.  They were talking about magic and other things and Charlotte told them everything about her life so far and all about her mother.  They both just sat and listened to everything that Charlotte had to say.  They were both very interested in what Charlotte said and then it was Joanna’s turn to talk.  Both she and Roger were brother and sister and they also had no mother or father as they had both died in an accident a short while ago.
Peter was good enough to let them stay with him for a while until something permanent could be sorted out.  Charlotte just knew that they would be getting on quite well and that they would be having lots and lots of fun and adventures.  They all went to bed that night thinking about what the other had all said.  Everyone was quiet when Peter and Louise checked on them.  When Peter went into Charlotte’s room he saw something that made him smile.
Charlotte’s mothers Ghost, Rosie was stood at the end of her bed looking down on her.  She smiled at Peter, nodded her head and disappeared.  Peter then quietly closed the door and he went back downstairs to talk to Louise.
The next morning everyone woke up and they all came running down stairs.  They were all soon sat in the dining room busy eating breakfast.  After breakfast they all had to go into one of the back rooms.  In there was Peter and Louise ready and waiting for them.
“Please come in and all sit down” asked Louise.
“Charlotte can you please get out your old spell books and then we can see what you have been able to learn in your mother’s absence” Peter said.
Charlotte got out her old books and everyone just looked and stared at them.
“What’s wrong “asked Charlotte.
“Are those the books your mother gave you” asked Peter.
“Yes they are, Why” Charlotte replied.
“Oh, there’s nothing wrong except the books you have been learning from are for advanced wizards and witches, and not for young witches like yourself.  They are hard to learn and only advanced witches can do the spells” Louise said.
“Well if these spells are too hard how come then I can do these spells and Charlotte said the words to a spell and the whole room started to glow brightly and stars and planets and other places started to appear.  And everyone could see way into the past, years ago when witches her hung and killed” she said.
“Wow” everyone said and they all stared at Charlotte.
“I think my dear Charlotte that you are an advanced witch before we even start.  I cannot do most of the spells but you have proven that you can.  Therefore I will teach you from your spells books and I will also teach Roger and Joanna from there spells books, and maybe someday you will be able to teach them some new spells” said Peter.
“Thank you” said Charlotte “And yes I would love to help”.
The morning soon passed and everyone came away knowing different spells.  Though Charlotte was wondering why her mother had given her the advanced spell books instead of ordinary spell books.
“I think you may want this to read” said Louse and she handed Charlotte a Diary.
“That was your mother’s diary, I found it when I was sorting through her stuff after she died” said Peter “and I thought you may like to read it when you are older, and here you are”.
“Thanks” said Charlotte and off she went.
Both Roger and Joanna followed her into her bedroom.  Charlotte sat on her bed read the diary and both Roger and Joanna were busy reading there spell books.  Charlotte was busy reading Claire’s, her mother’s diary.  They diary told how both Claire and Peter had met and how Peter had made her feel so special and loved.  The diary told her how everything was special, how they fell in love, when and where they got married, everything.
Charlotte found that she was mentioned in the book quite a few times.  The diary mentioned how Claire never even knew she was pregnant until shortly before the birth of Charlotte, and how when Charlotte was born her mother saw Charlotte surrounded by a bright light, and she knew then that Charlotte was a special baby.
“Hey you three, don’t you want anything to eat, Louise has made you something special down stairs so get a move on, Charlotte can I have a word with you please” Peter asked.
Everyone made their way down stairs except Peter and Charlotte who were walking slowly.
“Hope the diary is ok, I have not read it yet, and I won’t be unless you would like me too” said Peter.
They then joined everyone in the dining room.  There was a feast set out on the table.  There was Steak and Potatoes Pie, Chips, Pasties, Mash Potatoes, Peas, Carrot’s, Brussels Sprouts and Cheesecake, Upside down cake, and various buns.
Everyone tucked in and everyone was quiet whilst they were eating.  There wasn’t much left when they had finished.  Suddenly everyone was looking at Charlotte.  Charlotte was staring at the window.
“Anything wrong” asked Peter.
“Oh I thought I saw a face at the window” said Charlotte.
Everyone walked over to the window and looked but they could see nothing outside.  Suddenly they all heard a voice behind them.
“Hello there” someone said.
Everyone turned around and behind them was a ghost, a gentlemen.
“Hello there George, this is Roger, Joanne and my daughter Charlotte” Peter told the Ghost.
“So your George, Charlotte said, my mother mentioned ghosts in her diary” Charlotte told everyone.
Everyone looked at George and they were surprised at seeing him.  They had never seen a real ghost before and they thought that they never would.
“Have you been able to have a good look around this place and have you found any of the secret passages yet, they were used years ago when people needed to move around this place a lot quicker and when someone needed to hide, the passage entrances are either behind pictures of hidden in walls” they were told my George.
“Wow, secret passages” they all said.
“Let’s go and take a look” suggested Charlotte and off they all went.
They were deciding where to look around when Charlotte suggested they start looking in the drawing room as there were quite a few portraits in there and off they all went.  There were pictures everywhere they looked.  Slowly they started to look at all the pictures.  There were small pictures and tall pictures, slim pictures and fat pictures, pictures of all shapes and sizes.
Slowly they looked at some of the pictures.  Charlotte was feeling around some of their edges but then she stopped.  Charlotte was busy looking at another picture when Roger and Louise came up to her.  Charlotte walked over to the picture and started to have a closer look.  Slowly she felt around the edges and then there was a clicking sound.
Then the picture started to move sideways, slowly and quietly.  When it was fully opened everyone started to look at each other and then they looked at the open space.  Slowly they all started to going into the open space.  Inside the picture started to close.  Then it was all quiet and dark.  When the portrait was fully shut, lights started to come on inside the passage.
“Wow” said Charlotte.
“Where does this lead” asked Roger.
Slowly they all started to walk and follow the passage.  They were all wondering where it would come out.  They were lucky that there were lights on so that they could see where they were going.  They soon came to the end of the passage and they slowly started to open the picture that was at the end.   They can come out in the kitchen.    Both Peter and Louise jumped when they came out off the picture.
“Wow, where did you all come from” asked Peter.
“We came in a passage from the Drawing Room” said Charlotte.
“Wow” said Louise, “I will have to remember that one just in case we need it” she added laughing.
“Oh by the way, tomorrow your Uncle Martin will be coming to see you Charlotte, he has something he wants to ask you”, said Peter.
“Ok” said Charlotte and they all went off having another look around.
Later that day they went into town and they got the shopping that Louise had asked for.  That night was very quiet.  Everyone was tired from there day and they all watched some TV and then a DVD before going to bed.  Everyone slept well.  The next morning when everyone got up the sun was shining and it looked nice and warm outside.  When Charlotte got up she was thinking about her Uncle Martin.  She would be seeing him today and she had never met him so she did not know what he looked like or anything.
Charlotte went down stairs and everyone was all ready in the kitchen waiting for her.  They was a full breakfast on the table , Bacon, Egg, Tomatoes, Sausages, Hash Browns, Fried Bread, Beans, Mushrooms plus Tea and Milk, or Juice for anyone who wanted it.  Both Roger and Joanna had a bit of everything.  Plus they both had Orange Juice to drink.  Charlotte had Bacon, Egg, Beans, Sausages and Hash Brown plus a nice Cup of Tea.  Both Louise and Peter had everything that there was going.  Plus they had some Tea and Orange Juice.  There was a knock on the front door and Peter got up to answer it.
Peter came back with Charlotte’s Uncle Martin.
“Hello everyone” said Uncle Martin, “Pleased to meet you all”.
“Hello” everyone said back.
“Charlotte this is your Uncle Martin and he has come especially to see you and he will be leaving later on, so I think it would be best if you would spend some time with him” said Peter.
“Ok” said Charlotte and off they both went for a walk around the gardens.
They both walked around the garden looking at all the plants and trees and bushes and the wild life that was in the garden.  Uncle Martin was talking to Charlotte and telling her about where he lived on his little island.  Uncle Martin explained how he was the caretaker and that he looked after the property that was on the island.  He had always been looking after the building on the island.  It had always been on the island and was very old.
All the walls were made from Stones that had been built up and concreted together.  He told her how the building was said to have been there before the island.  He lived in an old Cottage on the Island and he was wondering if Charlotte would like to come and stay on the island for a while.  He explained that Charlotte would have her own bedroom and that he thought she would enjoy herself helping him out on the island and seeing all the wild animals and even going swimming in the sea.  Though he advised her to stay away from the Caves as the tides come in quickly and he would not want her caught out and stranded.
Charlotte went back inside and discussed this with Roger, Joanna, Peter and Louise.  After a short while Charlotte decided that she would like the go with her Uncle Martin and she went and got a bag of her clothes and other stuff we would need.  When she was ready off they both went.  It was a long drive to the sea side as they were going to get a boat to the island.    After about ten minutes a small boat appeared and both Charlotte and Uncle Martin when and put all their stuff into the boat and then they were on their way.
The sea was calm and it was nice and warm.  Uncle Martin was talking to the man whose boat it was.  After about 30 minutes Charlotte could see an Island in the distance and she was busy looking at watch she could see.
“That our Dragonet Island” said Uncle Martin.
“Wow” said Charlotte, “that’s a nice name for an Island”.  “Dragonet, does it mean anything” she asked.
“Well years and years ago, long before out time there is a story telling of an island where two dragons lived.  One was a good dragon and the other was not.  The story tells how one nice the bad dragon had decided that he was going to attack everyone that was living on the island.  The good dragon heard about this and in the middle on the night there was a big fight.  Good against bad.  The fight went on all night and into the next day until finally both dragons are said to have disappeared.  No one ever saw the dragons again but there are those who believe that the dragons are still somewhere on the island, sleeping.  And that one day the bad dragon would be woken up again and then the good dragon will appear the same time and safe the world again” but that’s only a story said Uncle Martin.
“Wow, that’s a great story” said Charlotte.
Soon they all landed and Uncle Martin carried all the bags and showed Charlotte where he lived.  On the way they went past the old buildings that she had heard about.
“The buildings look in very good condition to say they are old” said Charlotte.
“Oh I forgot to tell you that there have been men working inside” Uncle Martin told her.
Soon they reached the cottage and Charlotte was excited when she saw how great it all looked.  Inside was quite light and airy to say how old everything was.  Uncle Martin showed Charlotte her bed room and where everything else was.    Charlotte had a four poster bed in her room with Red Drapes.  There was a wardrobe and draws and a big mirror for Charlotte.  It did not take her long to put all her clothes away and then she went downstairs to see what Uncle Martin was doing.
Uncle Martin was busy in the kitchen getting some food ready.  Steak and Chips with Mushy Peas was for lunch and then Uncle Martin was then going to take her around the Island to have a good look around, and then she would be allowed to go around on her own.  Lunch was very nice and Charlotte helped her Uncle Martin to wash and put all the pots away.  Then they got ready and set off.
The first place they went too was the beach.  They walked along the beach and they even threw some stones into the sea.  From the Beach they walked up to the building and they were allowed inside.  Work men were busy working inside.  They were busy putting on new doors and changing the windows.  They were also fitting bars to the windows and putting new security doors etc everywhere.
“What’s going on “Uncle Martin asked the work men?
“Oh there has been a change of Plan” one of the work men said.
“This is going to be a Prison for a while” the other work man said.
“A Prison” said Charlotte.
“Don’t you worry little lady” the workman said.  “These prisoners are not dangerous so you don’t have to worry”.
“I’m not worried “said Charlotte, “I can take care of myself thank you” and she walked off.
After they had a walk around they went back to the cottage and they both had a drink and they talked about their day and Uncle Martin also told Charlotte more about his work on the island.  When it got to 9pm Charlotte decided that it was time to go to bed as she was tired.  Uncle Martin wished her a goodnight and off she went.  Charlotte slept well that night and she was dreaming about Dragons and the Island.  Just a dream thought Charlotte as she woke up the next morning.
Uncle Martin was up and ready for work.  He was about the start his daily walk around the island.  “Can I come with you please” asked Charlotte.
“Of course you can” said Uncle Martin.
So off they both went.  There first point of call was the new prison.  All the work was going well and soon everything would be ready.  In exactly a week the first prisoners would be arriving.  They both got to meet the new warden as well and both Uncle Martin and Charlotte would be allowed to still visit the prison.  Uncle Martin was the caretaker of the island and the prison as well.  Charlotte was allowed to help him and she would also help sort out any problems they may have.
Charlotte was ready for the prisoners arriving and as soon as they arrived Charlotte met most of them and found out how nice and friendly they all were.  None of the prisoners were dangerous.  They were mainly in for robberies and small crimes.  Soon all the prisoners had arrived and everyone went about their business and their daily jobs and chores.
Everyday both Charlotte and Uncle Martin would get up and then they would then start their rounds before ending up at the prison.  They always got a good greeting when they arrived and Charlotte's Uncle Martin was always given a list of any jobs that needed looking at.  Charlotte had her own list and would do whatever she could.  Charlotte mainly worked in the library.  She loved sorting and reading all the books and she also loved helping the prisoners to read.  The ones who could not ready very well were always ready and grateful when Charlotte helped them.  Charlotte soon had them all reading better than they ever had.   Charlotte had been living and working on Dragonet Island for 4 months now.  She still wrote to George and Joanna every day and they spoke on the phone, plus they had come and stayed for a bit as well.
They both enjoyed staying on the island and when it was time for them to go they had not wanted to go and they could not wait to come back again.  At least they could talk on the phone as well.  Plus Charlotte had a mobile phone so she would send them a text and pictures as well.  So they could always keep in touch which made every day better on the island and even though she missed them they were always there at the end of the time whenever she needed to speak.  All was going well and then Charlotte started to have more and more dreams about dragons.
Her dreams got more and more intense.  Charlotte started dreaming that she was talking to the dragon in a cave and that he was telling her a story about the past and what had happened and how it would all happen again and that she had the power to stop it with his help.  These dreams continued and Charlotte did not say anything to her Uncle Martin.
Every day was different to the day before.  Every day they did something different to what they had all ready been doing.  The Prison was open and there were jobs there that needed doing.  Charlotte would do whatever she could help with.  The prisoner were all nice and friendly.  Uncle Martin would leave Charlotte on her own doing a job because he knew that the prisoners would not hurt her.
The Prison has been open for about 3 months when things started to happen.   The Prisoners did not leave the prison unless they were helping outside.  Fishing was allowed on the island but only the prisoner that had earned their time fishing was allowed to fish.  And then the fish would then be cooked for tea.  Sometimes they would be Charlotte was fish for both her and her Uncle Martin to have for tea.
The skies were getting darker and everyone was busy as there was a storm coming.  Both Charlotte and Uncle Martin were inside.  All the prisoners were inside and everyone was listening to the winds and heavy rain.  Thunder and lightning was very loud and kept going with a big bang.  During the storm Charlotte was looking out of the window at the rain and dark skies.  In the sky she thought that she could see something, but then it had gone.
“Are you Ok” asked her Uncle Martin.
“Oh, I am ok, I just thought I saw something in the sky” she answered.
“Like what” asked Martin? (Uncle Martin had told Charlotte to call him just Martin)
“Well, it looked like a dragon, but I don’t really know, probably just the wind and rain playing games” she said.
“I think that’s what it was” said Martin.  “No Dragons here for a very long time” he also said.
They both sat down looking at the fire and drinking a hot drink of tea.  They were both nice and warm and they were both thinking about the prisoners and hoping that all was well there.
“I hope that all the prisoners are ok” said Charlotte.
“I am sure they are as those walls are quite thick.  You do know that some people say that inside the walls are secret passages that take you all around the place” he added.
“Wow I never knew that, that would be great if ever you needed to get out quick or hide” she said.
“Why do you think that” asked Martin.
“I don’t know, I just said it and I don’t know why, it was in my head”.
“Oh that’s ok, don’t worry, we will go over in the morning when the storm has gone” Martin told her.
Everyone slept well.  Once they were asleep they did not hear the storm.  They both just went to sleep.  The next morning after a phone call from George and Joanna plus her father, they went to the prison to check all was well.  George, Joanna and her father had phoned to see how everything was and about the storm.  As they got to the prison they could see that all looked well.  There were broken trees and bits off wood outside.  All was very wet and muddy.
Soon they were inside.  The court yard was a mess.  Wood, stones and anything that could move in the wind was there.  Rubbish bins were all over the floor, there were a couple of windows that had been cracked in the storm and a couple of window frames and door frames needed some attention.
“I will help clear up the court yard” said Charlotte.
“I will help with the windows and doors” said Martin, “I will see you later” he added.
All the prisoners came and helped Charlotte and Martin, and they also went to help where ever they were needed.  Another storm was on its way so everyone was trying to make everything safe ready for the next storm.  Everyone was working very hard.  Charlotte had never seen as many people working as hard as they were.
Soon it was time for Charlotte and Martin to go home, but Charlotte was busy so Martin had to go and find her.  It did not take him long to find her but when he did he just stopped and looked at her and watching her.
“What’s wrong” he asked.
“I don’t know I feel as though there is something wrong, but I don’t know what” she said.
“Come on and Lets go and see the Warden” and off they went.
They both arrived at the warden’s room and she was busy talking to one of the prisoners.  She called them in and they both went in.
“We are only checking that everything is well” said Martin.
“Ah, thanks “said the Warden.  “Thanks for all the work you have both helped with, we are ready for the next storm” she added.
Charlotte was busy looking at the Unit that was in the room.  There was a Diamond Sword and a Diamond Shield plus there was also a Crossbow and Arrows.  They were all shining at Charlotte.
“They are beautiful “said the Warden.
“Yes they are, and where did they come from “asked Charlotte.
“Well, they were found under the floor over there in this room.  They were wrapped up in a cloth and I decided to put them in that unit for everyone to see.  Everyone looks at them and says how beautiful they are” the warden said.
“Yes they are beautiful” said Charlotte.
“Wright, if that’s all I would like to get back before the storm starts again” said Martin.
“That’s ok, we will see you again the morning” the warden said and off they went.
It was a very noisy night.  Bang went the Thunder, Crash went the lighting.  All night it went on.  The windows were shaking with the wind and the rain was dancing on the windows and walls.  The fire in the fireplace was dancing happily inside and keeping them both warm.  Charlotte was watching the fire and thinking how it looked like it was dancing as it was happy at being inside and not outside in the cold wet rain.    They were a loud Crash and both Charlotte and Martin stood up.
“What was that “asked Martin.
“I don’t” then there was a loud growing noise from outside.
“Wow, I have no idea what that was” said Martin, “I hope it was the wind”.
“That was not the wind, that was?”  Charlotte stopped.
All had gone quiet.  They could not hear the wind or the rain, or see the lighting or here the thunder.  Everything had stopped.  Even Martin was stood not moving.  It’s like everything was frozen in time.  The fire was that dancing was still.  Still lit but not moving and no heat was coming from the fire.  How odd thought Charlotte.
“Charlotte”.
“Charlotte”
“Charlotte I need your help.  It’s your time and only you can stop this” the voice said.
Slowly Charlotte started to look around her but she could not see anyone.  Only her Uncle Martin was in the room with her.
“Charlotte, I am outside” the voice said.
Slowly Charlotte made her way towards the door.  Walking slowly looking and listening to everything that was going on.  Charlotte reached the door.  Slowly she started to open it.  Charlotte opened it a little bit and peeped outside, but she could not see anything.  Quietly she opened the door fully and looked outside.  She could still not see anyone or anything, and they something made Charlotte jump.
“AAAAh” said Charlotte.
“Sorry I made you jump, we need your help at the prison, something’s gone wrong, and can you come, quickly” said the prisoner.
 “Ok, what’s wrong” she asked.
“I will explain when we get there” he said.  “Is your Uncle Martin coming” he ask
“Its ok, Martin is already somewhere on the Island” Charlotte replied.
Charlotte was not going to tell him that her Uncle Martin was frozen inside and that she did not know how come he is like that and that she heard something shouting her and the loud noise.  They both walked towards the prison.  The wind was blowing and it was raining but on they both went.  Soon they were inside out of the rain and the prisoner took her inside where it was nice and dry and warm.
“What’s going on” Asked Charlotte.
“Well, where do we start” said the Warden.
“The Storm started and then a prisoner has gone missing inside the prison.  We all have been looking for him and we cannot find him and don’t even know where he was disappeared to.  No one has seen him and no one has found him either” she continued.
That’s strange thought Charlotte.  How can a Prisoner go missing on an island?  He must be here somewhere she thought.  Everyone started talking at once but they all shut up quick when they heard people shouting and growing noise etc.  Then the door opened and someone came running in.  They were covered in Blood and they were all black and there face and body was all burnt.  The man fell to the floor and he did not get up.  He was dead.
Everyone just looked at each other.  Then everyone ran out but Charlotte stayed in the room.  We went over to the dead prisoner and had a look at him.  Just then everything started moving and Charlotte could hear something outside the door.  It’s sounded big and not friendly.  Charlotte stood back and then behind her was a noise.  The glass in the unit broke and went everywhere.  Crash it went on the floor.
Next the Bow and Arrows came flying out and Charlotte found herself waiting them.  Then the Sword and Shield came out.  One minute they were in the unit, the next that Charlotte was wearing them.  Somehow Charlotte knew how to use them and she went tomorrow the door.
Carefully Charlotte opened the door and looked outside before she left the room.  People were shouting and running everywhere.  Charlotte found herself in the court yard.  Her sword was in the hand and she was looking and the little dragons that were running out everywhere.  They were running after the prisoners and they were burning and attacking some of them.  Charlotte ran tomorrow one of the dragons.
It’s stopped and looked at her and then it ran towards her as well.  Fire was coming towards her and she used her Shield to stop the fire from burning her.  The Dragon was next to her and before it could do anything, Charlotte swung the Sword and the Dragons head fell off.  It was dead.  Charlotte then found herself fighting the other small dragons.  Soon the court yard was full of dead dragons and blood.  The court yard was in a mess.  There were bodies everywhere; fires were burning, blood all over the place from both the dragons and prisoners.
Charlotte then ran into the prison.  Her sword was in her hand, ready for whatever came to her.  Inside she could see that some of the prisoners were dead and that some were just hurt and they were moving trying to get away to somewhere safe.  Charlotte found a group of prisoners hiding in a room.  Charlotte quickly went inside and shut the door.  Outside was some bigger dragons looking and moving trying to find people to kill.
“Be very quiet” said Charlotte.
“What can do” they all asked.
“Follow me and stay as close to me as you can “she said.
Charlotte went over to the far wall and pushed.  She somehow knew that the wall would open and that there would be a way out of that room, a secret passage.   They all entered the Secret Passage and everyone followed Charlotte.  As they walked along they came to some over room that the secret passage went past.  More of the prisoners followed them.  No one was talking.
Charlotte told the prisoners to stay inside the passages and to try and find a way out.  She was going to leave the passages to see if you could find anyone else and to also see if she could find out what was going on.  The prisoners did not want her to go, but she knew that she had to.  So off she went.
Charlotte was fighting for her life and everyone’s life that was on the island.  Charlotte went from room to room fighting and killing any dragon that got in her way.  Dragons bodies were everywhere behind her.  Charlotte did not want to kill the dragons but they were going to kill her and everyone that was on the island.  So she had to kill them.  She has to somehow stop this, somehow end it.
Charlotte had to be careful as there were fires everywhere.  Windows were burning.  Doors were burning.  Walls had come down and bricks and concrete were everywhere.  But Charlotte just kept going.  Finally there were no more small and bigger dragons.  All were dead.  But there was one left.  The Dragon that had been talked about in stories.  The dragon that there were tales about.  But where was this Dragon and how Charlotte was going to stop it.  But on she went, thinking and listening.
Charlotte found herself in a bit of the prison where she had never been.  It was dark and cold and the rain was coming in.  Plus it was winding.  Charlotte was not afraid as her shield started to glow and it acted as a light.  Slowly Charlotte followed the walls and could see that there was an old door.  There was some broken wood and concrete blocking the door but Charlotte soon moved it.
The door was very stiff and old and the hinges were all rusty.  Charlotte did not even know if the door would open but she tried the handle and pulled.  Slowly she was able to open the door.  Behind the door Charlotte could see some steps that went down wards.  Slowly she went inside and started to carefully go down the stairs.  Behind her Charlotte heard a noise and when she turned around she saw that the door had gone and that there was only an old looking wall where the door had been.  That’s odd she thought.
The stairs went downwards quite a long way.  The walls on both side of the passage were all went and there were roots growing down the walls.  The steps were also quite wet so she had to be careful how she went down the stairs.  Finally she came to what looked like the end of the stairs.  She reached a metal door which was half open and half closed.  Charlotte went to move it but the door just fell onto the floor with a loud bang.
Charlotte climbed over the door and she found herself in a large cavern.  She could see tree roots growing through the roof and the walls were rough and damp.  There were puddles of water on the floor and in the distance she could see what looked like a large cave opening.  Slowly Charlotte walked forward.  She was listening and watching and looking at everything around her.  Charlotte heard something and got her bow and arrow ready.
Charlotte pointed and aimed the arrow towards the pool of water that was in front of her.  Quietly and carefully Charlotte approached there water, but then she stopped.  The water started to move and suddenly something flew out of the water at her.  Charlotte aimed her arrow and fired.  Whatever it was stopped in its tracks and landed on the floor.  It was dead.  Whatever it was it had a very long body with a pointy head and very long and sharp looking teeth.  Not friendly looking at all thought Charlotte.
Charlotte also hoped that she would not meet another one in her tracks.  On she went and soon she came to the large opening.  There were sharp rocks and broken rocks and rocks were also falling.  Carefully on went Charlotte.  Then she stopped.  Charlotte was inside a very large cavern and she could see outside.  That’s because at the far side of the cavern there was an opening that went outside.  Charlotte could see trees and that the storm was still outside.
“Well, Well, What have we got here then, a little girl lost, yum yum” said a voice.
Charlotte looked around and then she could see the Dragon.  The dragon was very large and covered in black scales.  The dragon had big red eyes and a fierce looking face.
“I am not lost and I am NOT your dinner, tea or supper “she said back.
“Oh we will just have to see about that, wont we” the dragon said whilst moving closer to Charlotte.
Charlotte quickly got hold of her sward and was ready for him.  As he went for her she swung her sword and went for him.  Then she ran and moved away from him.   The dragon went for her and she went for the dragon.  The dragon was bleeding as Charlotte had cut his face with her sword.  Charlotte also had a couple of cuts and bruises.
Every time the Dragon breathed Fire, Charlotte used her Shield to protect herself from the fire and the heat of his fiery breath.  Charlotte was fighting with the dragon for a while and then she remembered the water in the other room.  The dragon went after her as she ran into the other room.  The dragon saw the water but he could do nothing as he fell over and he went into the water.  His fire was out.  Charlotte took this opportunity to get outside onto the island.
Charlotte ran out of the cavern into the rain and winds and the dragon was after her.
“You put out my fire, you will pay for that” the dragon kept shouting
“Not if I stop you first” Charlotte replied.
Charlotte ran outside and into the trees.  The dragon was busy looking for her but Charlotte new she would have to get the dragon outside from the cavern.  The dragon started to go towards the prison but Charlotte ran out of the trees and the dragon saw her and started to chase her.
Charlotte ran down to the beach and ran between the rocks.  Every time the dragon came near her she would fight back.  The dragon was cut and bleeding and Charlotte had a couple of cuts but they did not hurt.  Slowly Charlotte was able to get the dragon away from the prison.  Charlotte saw her Uncle Martin running towards the prison and so did the dragon.  Luckily Uncle Martin saw the dragon and he started running into the trees.   The dragon chases after him and set the trees alight but Charlotte's Uncle Martin had already left the trees.  He was heading towards the beach and the rocks.
“Stay hidden” shouted Charlotte.
“Don’t worry, I am and be careful” he shouted back.
Soon the dragon could not see Uncle Martin and he went back after Charlotte.  Charlotte was stood on the beach when she saw the dragon go and set the prison alight.  She hoped that the survivors had got out ok.  Soon the dragon was back after her.  Charlotte managed to get 10 arrows into the dragon and she had more to fire at the dragon.  Just then Charlotte heard a voice and she stopped and froze on the spot.
“You have done all that you can, now it’s my turn” a voice said.
Whoosh, something flew past her.  It was another dragon.  This dragon was the same as the other expect the dragon was Red and Gold with Black and White eyes.  The dragon flew straight at the other dragon and they started fighting.  They both flew into the air and they were flying into each other fighting.  They were fighting each other and pushing each other into anything they could.  Trees and Rocks were flying everywhere.  Crash and Bang they both went.  Charlotte decided to run and find her Uncle Martin.
Soon she found him hiding in a little cave.
“Come on let’s check on the others” said Charlotte.
“Are you ok” he asked.
“Never felt better “she said and off they went.
They soon ran to the prison which was well alight.  The prisoners were all running out of the prison and they all ran towards Charlotte and Martin when they saw them.  Anybody that was hurt was being helped by someone out.  The warden was with them and they all started to make their way down to the beach.  Once there they were all standing and watching the dragons fighting.
“What the” said the warden.
“What’s going on” asked the prisoners.
“Well, those are dragons, a good dragon and a bad dragon” said Charlotte.
“So the stories were true then” the warden said.
Suddenly the ground started to shake.  There was a large explosion.  Everyone watched as the prison started to disappear into the ground.  There was another large explosion and then the prison completely disappeared in a cloud of dust.  Then the ground started too disappeared into the hole that the prison had gone into.    As they were watching this some boats suddenly appeared and they quickly came to the island pier and everyone just watched the dragons fighting.
“Quick, everyone in the boats” shouted Charlotte.
No one waited and everyone ran into the boats.
“What’s going on” as the boatmen.
“Best you don’t really know”, said Charlotte.
The boats slowly moved away from the island and the dragons kept on fight.  It was a good job they moved as the dragons crashed onto the beach where they had all been standing.
“That was lucky” said Martin and everyone agreed.
The boats pulled further and further away and every watched.  Suddenly there was a loud crash and a loud bang and the island just disappeared.  The boats were hit by a wave and when everyone looked again the bad dragon was being pulled into the sea where the island had been.  He thought the best way he could and was fighting trying to stay out of the wurl pool put in he went and that was the end of him.
The other dragon was above where the island was.  He looked at Charlotte and when he just flew away.
“Where’s the Island gone” asked Martin.
“Well at least we were not on it” said Charlotte.
“What about the Dragons” asked the Warden?
“The Evil Dragon is trapped forever and the other dragon is returning to a place where he will be safe and where no one else will ever find him and the other dragons “said Charlotte.
“Other dragons” asked the warden and some of the prisoners.
“Apparently the dragon just told me and showed me a where dragons all live together peacefully and away from humans.  No one knows they are there or even are alive” she added.
“Well, I think we should all forget about happened tonight and talk to no one about it, no one will be leave us” said the warden.  Everyone agreed and off they all went.
Soon they were back on the main island.  Back on firm land, back where they belong.  People were asking what had happened but one said anything about the dragons.  All the prisoners were taken to another prison and those that needed hospital treatment went to the hospital.  Both Charlotte and Martin went to the Hospital just to get checked over.  Charlotte was glad when they could leave as her father Peter had come to pick them up.  Soon they were both in Peter’s car returning home.  Charlotte fell asleep in the car and no one woke her up.  They just carefully carried her up to her bedroom and they left her there until she was ready to wake up.  Charlotte slept until the next morning, and in fact she did not get up until Dinner time.
Everyone was waiting down stairs for her when she got up.  Everyone wanted to know about what had been happening on the island.  Everyone went into the lounge and they all sat down.  They all listened while Charlotte told them everything about what had been going on.  About her dreams, about how she kept hearing things and someone calling her name and the dreams talking to the Dragon.  And how the dragon had told her everything about the island and all about the other dragon that was not a good dragon and how bad it was.
“What Colour were the Dragons” Joanna asked.
“Well” said Charlotte, “The Bad Dragon was Black and the Good Dragon was Red” plus there were some other colours mixed in there” she said.
“So, does this mean that it’s the end of the prison and dragonet island” asked Roger.
“The Island has sunk and I don’t know if we will ever see the Dragons ever again” said Peter in response to Rogers’s question
